College Basketball Roundup: Former West star Hairston explodes for Towson in CAA tourney

RICHMOND ó Junior Hairston still has some college basketball left to play.
The former West Rowan star may have had the best game of his Towson career on Friday in the first round of the Colonial Athletic Association tournament.
Towson (11-21) beat Drexel 72-63 behind the dominating play of Hairston.
The 6-foot-8 senior finished with 24 points, going 2-for-2 on 3s and hitting 7-of-11 from the field. He was 8-of-12 from the free-throw line. He grabbed seven rebounds and blocked three shots.
Towson led Drexel (15-14) at halftime 39-14.
James Madison 70, William & Mary 48
RICHMOND, Va. ó Pierre Curtis scored 19 points to lead James Madison in a 70-48 rout of William & Mary in the first round of the CAA tournament.
James Madison (19-13) broke a string of five consecutive first-round losses.
Hofstra 79, UNC-W 66
RICHMOND, Va. ó Charles Jenkins scored 27 points and dished out nine assists to lead Hofstra to a 79-66 win over North Carolina-Wilmington (7-25).

ST. LOUIS ó Booker Woodfox hits a 16-footer at the buzzer to help second-seeded Creighton hold off No. 7 Wichita State 63-62 in a Missouri Valley Conference quarterfinal game Friday.
The Bluejays (26-6) extended their winning streak to 11 games, tied for the third-largest string in the nation behind Memphis (21 wins) and Weber State (12).
Creighton, which has won the MVC Tournament six times in the last 10 years, advances to the semifinals for the ninth time in 11 seasons.
Bradley 67, So. Illinois. 55
ST. LOUIS ó After seven straight postseason appearances, all but one of them in the NCAA tournament, Southern Illinois fell way short this season.
The young Salukis finished at 13-18 with a 67-55 loss to Bradley.
No. Iowa 73, Indiana State 69ST. LOUIS ó Kwadzo Ahelegbe and Adam Koch scored 19 points apiece and top seed Northern Iowa avoided a free throw meltdown in the final minute of a 73-69 victory.
BIG EASTSOUTH BEND, Ind. ó Luke Harangody had 31 points and 12 rebounds and Notre Dame held St. John’s to a season-low 29 percent shooting Friday night to beat the Red Storm 74-55.
