LTC again

A few weeks ago we looked at Counting Losing Tricks as a way to more accurate bidding. In the last Bridge Bulletin Jennifer Jones revisited the subject. Once you and partner have found a fit, you look at losing trick count. Most minimal opening hands have 7 losers. Add up all your losers (any cards below A,K,Q in each suit) and add them to partner’s 7 then subtract that number from = the answer is the number of tricks you can count on winning. Vary your final contract level using this number. You need 9 tricks for NT, 10 tricks for a major suit and 11 tricks for a minor suit contract to succeed. It will take practice. As always, be aware of your vulnerability.

On June 1 our Evergreen game winners were: N/S 1st Judy Gealy and Pat Macon, 2nd Pat Featherston and Dick Brisbin, 3rd Jean and Loyd Hill; E/W 1st John and Myrnie McLaughlin, 2nd Billie and John Nordan, 3rd Patsey Reynolds and Lawana Ford.
