Third annual Countywide Playwriting Competition at SHS this weekend

The 3rd annual County-wide Playwriting Competition will be held at 7 p.m., this Friday and Saturday, at the Salisbury High School auditorium.
Admission is free.
The brainchild of South Rowan drama teacher Sarah Drinkard, the competition brings together dozens of high school students from around the county to produce student-written plays.
Salisbury drama teacher Debbie Hubbard and Carson drama teacher Alex Reynolds are helping Drinkard supervise.
This year, six plays were selected. They are:
– “Love in Real Life,” written by Amber Adams of Carson and directed by Curran Sentilles of Salisbury.
The cast includes Mckenzie Eury (Carson), Filipe Torres (Salisbury), Jeremi Vargas (Salisbury) and Nick Gibson (South).
– “Romeo, Juliet and a Bunch of Other People,” written by Adam Corriher (South) and directed by Torie Lucas (Carson).
The cast includes Ryan Miles (Carson), Mandy Blankenship, Natasha Arhart and Lauren Brown (South); Richard Cortez and Yasmine Williams (Salisbury).
– “From Divorce, to Yemen, to Bloomingdales,” written by Curran Sentilles (Salisbury); directed by Autumn Sather (South. The cast includes Skye Jones, Linda Castillo and Billy Holshouser (Carson); Taylor Chandler (South) and Tamara Oglesby and Katie Weant (Salisbury).
– “Dream,” written by Taylor Pfaff (Salisbury) and directed by Erin Basinger (Carson). The cast includes Jesse Mayorga, Annie Cardelle, Amanda Girelli and Richard Cortez (Salisbury).
– “Eleven Days With You,” Written by Kacey Cline (Carson) and directed by Tess Shoe (South). The cast includes Heaven Bare (South), Rob Gay (Carson), Grace Nicholson (Salisbury).
– “To Decode a Heart,” written by Cody Gasque (Carson), directed by Christian Barringer (South). Cast includes CaLeb Hill (West), Rob Gay (Carson), Ashley Hood (South) and Karizma Caldwell (Salisbury).
Taylor Pfaff and Taylor Fink (Salisbury) are running the light board. The running crew is Emily Kinney (South), Chris Beaver (Carson), and Amber Guinn (West).
