A concert of patriotic music to honor veterans and all U.S. Service personnel will take place Sunday, July 1, at Faith Baptist Church, which will be decked out in red, white and blue.

This year’s program is dedicated to the loving memory of Frank Goodnight, a faithful member of the chorus for 16 years who died in April 2018.

The annual Faith Fourth Concert is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m. Fifty-five choir members representing 17 area churches have combined to perform special selections enhanced by a Power Point presentation created by Dwight Bradshaw and featuring many local veterans.

The program, a blend of patriotism and religion, begins with a prayer, the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag, the National Anthem and a musical salute to U.S. armed forces.

The audience is encouraged to wear patriotic colors. The chorus, directed by Jason Harwood, will be accompanied by Susan Trivette on the piano and narrated by Dr. Karl Hales. Guitarist Rusty Fisher will accompany “Where the Stars and Stripes and the Eagle Fly.”

The event is sponsored by Novant Health and was organized by Daisy Bost, a member of the Faith community.

Several numbers will feature individual choir members: “I Believe,” a duet featuring Neal Wilkinson and Cindy Faggart; “Remembrances – Songs from America’s Conflicts,” performed by Patsy Parnell, Diane Freeman and Jill Fisher; and “Under God,” performed by Neal Wilkinson, Tony Herrin and Tim Williams. Julia Desmet will join the choir as soloist for “I Believe” by Mark Miller.

Churches represented by the choir are Mt. Moriah Lutheran, Mt. Zion UCC, China Grove; Faith Baptist, Faith Lutheran, Shiloh Reformed, Faith;  St. John’s Lutheran, Salisbury’s First Presbyterian, Salisbury’s First Baptist – Salisbury, Bethel Methodist, Grace Lutheran, Organ Lutheran, Christiana Lutheran, Immanuel Lutheran, Salisbury’s First United Church of Christ; St. Matthew’s Lutheran, Calvary Baptist Tabernacle and Phaniels Baptist.

Prior to the concert, Rowan Big Band All-Stars, directed by Ron Turbyfill, will entertain beginning at 3 p.m.

Following the concert, food and amusement rides will be available at Faith Legion Park, located across the street from the church. Faith Baptist Church is located at 203 N. Main St. in Faith. The concert is free and there is plenty of free parking.
