March is Women’s History Month at Jerusalem Baptist Church. The program, “Praise, Worship and Mission,” is today from 10 a.m. to noon in the church fellowship hall at 1570 N. Long St. Ext. This event is free and open to the public. Lunch will be served. Cynthia Lee is facilitator.

CHINA GROVE — At Mount Zion United Church of Christ, during the 10 a.m. Sunday school hour through April 6, children and youth continue their visit to the city of Jerusalem: this fourth session will focus on Good Friday. At 9:30 a.m. breakfast will be served. During the 11 a.m. service the fourth Candle of Lent, the Candle of Fellowship, will be lighted.
On Wednesday, April 2, the New Construction Fund Committee will be hosting dinner in the new building from 5:30 to 7 p.m. The menu includes pork tenderloin, mashed potatoes, gravy, green beans, baked apples, biscuits, tea, coffee and desserts for an $8 donation.

At The Cross (A.T.C.) Ministries, Inc. will host Fire on 5th at the 10 a.m. on Sunday. Speakers will include Associate Minister Emily Rivers of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church and Minister Travis Cauble of Mt. Pleasant. Associate Ministers of A.T.C. Paula Webb-Cheeks and Bernard Cheeks will also speak.
In addition, a healing service will take place at 4 p.m. in support of the pastoral focus for the March on physical, emotional/mental and spiritual healing. Dr. Ortud (Oddy) Crist, PhD, MA Pastoral Counseling will be the guest speaker at 4 p.m.

CHINA GROVE — The One Day Revival with Evangelist Bobby Callaham was so successful that a second One Day Revival will be held tomorrow at the Southside Church of God in China Grove, 163 3rd Ave. Rev. Callaham of Shelby, will again be speaking in the 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. services. He will also pray for the sick and for those with other needs. The Vineyard Worship Center will celebrate its first church anniversary on Sunday with Rev. Rodney Eldridge of Power of Praise of Salisbury as the 11 a.m. speaker. ROCKWELL — The principal of Elizabeth Duncan Koontz Elementary School, Ms. Mary Hemphill, will be the speaker at God’s Tabernacle For Believers on Sunday at the 11 a.m. service, which will be focus on youth and young adults.
Ms. Hemphill attended Meredith College as a North Carolina Teaching Fellow. She studied in Puerto Rico as an exchange student at the University of the Sacred Heart in San Juan and pursued a double major in /Education and Spanish and a license in Elementary Education. She is a doctoral candidate in the Leadership Studies program at NC A&T State University in Greensboro, NC pursuing her PhD in the area of Leadership studies with a concentration in Administration.
Ms. Hemphill served as the Director of the Leadership 2000 Program for five years through Hickory Public Schools and worked with over 300 high school students to guide them through three years of internships in the non-profit, government and private business sectors in greater Catawba County. She also served as a member of the Teaching Fellows Advisory council through the Department of Public Instruction and was recently awarded the Courageous Leadership Award through her services to the students of Hickory City. She is an inductee and member of Alpha Delta Kappa, Gamma Eta Chapter for outstanding educators.

First Presbyterian Church of Salisbury will celebrate the fourth Sunday of Lent with two special services. The first will be a Service of Wholeness and Healing at 9 a.m. in the sanctuary. Childcare will be available at 8:45 a.m.
Sunday School for all ages is at 10 a.m. Adult classes will begin in Lewis Hall with a brief video and then continue in their classrooms with the study “24 Hours That Changed the World” by Adam Hamilton.
The second special service will be at 11 a.m. when the congregation will gather as ‘one’ in Lewis Hall. Dr. Jim C. Dunkin will preach and Holy Communion will be served. The First Grade Disciples will be welcomed to the Lord’s Table.

EAST SPENCER — Love Christian Center will be having its annual Fifth Sunday youth service Sunday at 11 a.m. The speaker will be Minister Oglatha McLaughlin, youth minister at Always Living in Victory Ministries in Fayetteville. The early registration deadline is Monday to sign up for the Fresh Start Ministries of Shady Grove Baptist Church women’s conference featuring Evangelist Bridgette Wright. Next Saturday, April 5 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Liberty United Methodist Church’s annual barbecue fund-raiser will be held at the church at the intersection of Stokes Ferry and Liberty Roads. There will be hickory cooked barbecue, pork and chicken sandwiches, plates and more. Takeout is available.
KANNAPOLIS — Kirkwood Presbyterian Church begins Saturday night series of movies beginning with “Courageous” on April 5 at 6 p.m. They will feature Christian movies on the first Saturday of each month. These movies will be free along with popcorn and coke. Bring family and friends and enjoy a fun night out. Other movies planned are Fireproof, Facing the Giants, Flywheel and Ring the Bell.
