The Rowan County Chamber of Commerce will host its annual “Business Week” celebration May 4-7 with events organized by the chamber’s Small Business Council.
Activities are designed to promote and showcase local businesses as well as the impact of business on the Rowan County economy.
The presenting sponsor for Business Week 2009 is The Salisbury Post. Additional sponsors are AT&T Real Yellow Pages, Piedmont Natural Gas and Windstream.
The Ultimate Power Lunch sponsored by Southern Power-Plant Rowan, is May 4, 11:30 a.m. at the Holiday Inn and will feature Alan Stafford of The Center for Executive Excellence. The executive coach shows companies how to right-size their operations to create sustainable business success.
As author of the book, “Making Companies Work” he accurately predicted the mortgage meltdown, the severity of the recession and the backlash against excessive executive compensation. He now focuses on helping companies cope with layoffs, declining sales and economic uncertainty.
His keynote will be “How to Keep Your Customers Coming Back For More.”
An after-lunch seminar, “Steps You Can Take NOW to Increase Sales,” will be from 12:45-1:45 p.m. also at the Holiday Inn. This program was developed specifically to help boost business now. Some of the topics include how attracting new customers can kill your company; what your customers really want and how to make money on customer service.

The second event of the week is the 2009 Business Show, May 7, 1-5 p.m. at the Holiday Inn. This showcase of chamber member businesses features goods and services from throughout Rowan County. Door prize drawings will be held throughout the day.
“Business After Hours Membership Mixer” will be held at the show for chamber members from 5:30-7 p.m.
