Salisbury’s Alden Wright to give organ concert
CHINA GROVE — 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 10
At St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, 326 N. Main St., Alden Wright will present an organ concert for the community.
There is no admission charge. He is home for the summer from the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, NY where he is a rising junior.
He will be playing works by Bruhns, J.S. Bach, Schumann, Bridge, Howells, Still and Durufle.

NC Transportation Foundation’s First Ever Beer Festival
SPENCER — 5-9 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 11
The N.C. Transportation Museum Foundation’s family-friendly festival features outdoor games, music, food trucks and five local breweries.
The public may purchase beer from the attending breweries in the Back Shop while enjoying games and music at no admission charge.
The ticketed train rides at 5, 6, 7 and 8 p.m. are for adults age 21 and up. The $12 ticket includes:
• Train Ride
• Two 4 oz. samples of craft beer, exclusively brewed for this event
• Souvenir Tasting Glass
• A Salty Snack
The children’s ticket for those under 21 is $10 and includes:
• Train Ride
• Cheerwine

Opening reception for exhibit by artist Patt Legg

Unfortunately, due to events beyond her control, Kyla Glover will not be able to exhibit with us this summer. But we are lucky enough to get local artist Patt Legg to share her work with us. Patt was recently seen at CFA in our “This is Us” exhibit.
Patt has been creating art since 1975 and has exhibited her works across the south and in New York City. Her forte is working in classical oil painting techniques and taking these techniques in new directions.
Light refreshments will be served at the opening reception Friday, and at 7 p.m. Patt will be on hand to meet and talk with guests. There will be live music by Chelsea Rhae Childers.

Trolley rides on Saturdays
