The Rowan-Salisbury Schools superintendent has the power to close schools in the case of inclement weather or any circumstances that pose a threat to students or staff or cause significant damage to school buildings.

The superintendent will notify parents, the news media and other interested parties of a decision to close a school or schools as soon as possible under the circumstances, through ConnectEd, the news, the school system website or other sources.
