PPT announces summer drama camps

Piedmont Players Theatre has announced plans for drama camps this summer:
In the Elementary and Middle School Drama Camps, students will learn theater techniques and acting skills through creative drama, improvisation and character development activities. On Tuesday afternoon, they will audition for and be cast in a production for the rest of the week, with continued creative drama thrown in for fun. They’ll experience many aspects of a theater production including rehearsing, choosing props, choosing costumes, and helping with set design. For rising 3rd-5th graders.
There will be two Elementary Drama camps. Camp 1 is June 22-26 and Camp 2 is July 6-10. Instructor for both weeks is Debbie Hubbard.
Middle school drama will be in Camp 7, Aug. 3-7, also with instructor Debbie Hubbard.
In Elementary and Middle School Musical Camps, campers will be singing classic Disney favorites in Camp 3 and selections from “The Wiz” in Camp 4. Middle school campers will work on selections from the hit musical “Grease.” For rising 3rd-5th graders and rising 6th-8th graders.
Camp 3 is July 13-17 with instructors Debbie Hubbard and Frances McGill. Camp 4 is July 20-July 24 with instructors Tara Van Geons and Emily Schuttenberg. Camp 5 (middle school) is July 27-31 with instructors Debbie Hubbard and Frances McGill.
High School Camp will be “The Great American Drama: Reflections and studies in O’Neil, Simon, Williams, Inge, Auburn, and Edson.” Students will explore many aspects of American drama through scenes and developmental activities. For rising 9th-12th graders.
The high school camp, Camp 6, is July 27-31. The instructor is Tara Van Geons.
All camps are Monday-Friday, 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Cost is $100 per week, or $90 per week for PPT 2008-2009 members.
