SALISBURY — The Salisbury City Council will meet Tuesday to adopt a budget amendment for the Police Department, discuss Rowan County’s animal control ordinance and consider authorizing the sale of two parcels.

The meeting will begin at 5 p.m. and start with a proclamation for First Responders Day. The council also will approve the retirement of police K9 Snitch and give him to his handler, Officer Joseph Martinez.

The budget amendment is for two items: $10,933 for training and outfitting the crime scene truck for the Police Department and $121,281 to appropriate money from the sale of a house in the 2017-18 fiscal year.

Salisbury Rowan Utilities will request that the city manager execute a contract with EMA Resources Inc. for the Residuals Land Application Program at a cost of $183,225.

The council will receive an update from the Housing Advocacy Commission on the Remedial Action Program and advertise landlord training on Sept. 26.

Two upset bids for the sale of properties will be considered. They include parcels in the 200 block of West Henderson Street and at 110 N. Main St.

The council will receive an update about a $73,363 fire prevention grant from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.

The meeting will be  held at City Hall, 217 S. Main St.
