Mets reliever Bobby Parnell (East Rowan) threw a scoreless seventh inning in New York’s 3-2 loss to Los Angeles in 11 innings at Dodger Stadium late Monday night.
Parnell entered with the Mets trailing 2-1. They tied the game in the top half of the eighth inning.
Juan Pierre lined out to center, and Rafael Furcal singled to left. Orlando Hudson struck out looking, and Furcal was thrown out trying to steal on the play.
Parnell lowered his ERA to 1.96 in his 20th appearance of the season.

If Colorado manager Clint Hurdle has his way, Todd Helton will have his 2,000th hit even before the Rockies play their next game.
Hurdle called the press box after the Rockies’ 5-1 victory over Atlanta on Monday to request a meeting with official scorer Jack Wilkinson after Helton’s hard grounder between second and third in the ninth inning was charged as an error to shortstop Yunel Escobar.
Helton finished 0-for-4 and needs one hit to become the 255th player to reach 2,000.n
Vladimir Guerrero is ready to play again. The Los Angeles Angels appear ready to oblige.
Manager Mike Scioscia said Monday his slugger is on track to begin a short, minor league rehabilitation assignment Thursday or Friday and could be activated to return to Los Angeles’ lineup as soon as Memorial Day.
It will be the first games of any kind since April 15 for the eight-time All-Star. Guerrero was placed on the 15-day disabled list April 18 with a torn right pectoral muscle. He missed his 28th game Monday, when the Angels played the Mariners, but before the game he took batting practice for the fourth consecutive day, ran the bases and did some running and agility drills.
“He picked up his workouts today,” Scioscia said.
Guerrero said he hasn’t been told when he can throw again and, thus, return to the outfield.
Scioscia said Guerrero will be a designated hitter only for the few games he’s likely to play through Sunday at Class-A Rancho Cucamonga.
“There’s no indication when he can start throwing,” Scioscia said.
That was the issue that led to his DL stint.
