LANDIS — Two people were injured in a multivehicle collision in Landis last week. Both were taken to the hospital with injuries that are not life-threatening, according to police officials.

The crash occurred at 5:49 p.m. Wednesday on East Ryder Avenue where it intersects North and South Chapel streets.

A Ford Explorer driven by Jonathan Deadmon, 22, of Landis, was traveling south on North Chapel Street and approached a stop sign. Deadmon attempted to drive through the intersection, and his vehicle was struck by a Honda traveling east on East Ryder Avenue.

The impact of the collision caused the sport utility vehicle to overturn. Deadmon and his passenger, Samantha Deadmon, 20, of Kannapolis, needed help to get out of the vehicle.

The Honda, driven by Phillip Holt, 29, of Albemarle, then struck a Toyota Scion driven by Joshua Parham, 33, of China Grove.

The Toyota was at the stop sign at the intersection of South Chapel Street and East Ryder Avenue. Neither driver was injured.

A passenger in the Toyota, Erin Smith, 34, also of China Grove, was not injured.

Police officials said Jonathan Deadmon had minor knee and ankle injuries and Samantha Deadmon was cut by broken glass. Both were taken by Rowan EMS to Carolinas Medical Center-NorthEast.

No charges were filed, police officials said.

The Ford Explorer was totaled, the Honda had significant damage, and the Toyota had moderate damage. Police officials said all the vehicles had to be towed from the accident scene.

In addition to the Landis Police Department, Rowan EMS, the Landis Fire Department, and the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office also responded.
