Police Blotter: Salisbury man charged with attempted robbery after argument

SALISBURY — A local man has been charged with attempted common law robbery after an argument with another man over money in August, according to the Salisbury Police Department.

According to a police report, Michael Stevenson Hamilton, 42, of the 600 block of White Rock Avenue, faces felony charges.

The argument began on East Cemetery Street. The victim was in a vehicle and Hamilton was standing near the vehicle, police said. Hamilton reached into the car to take money, and a fight ensued.

Hamilton cut the victim on the hand with a knife, police said. The victim drove away with Hamilton still holding on to the car. He eventually let go.

Hamilton was arrested Thursday in the 100 block of North Shaver Street. He remained in the Rowan County Detention Center on Friday under a $2,500 secured bond.

• Justin William Presnell, 26, was charged with felony breaking and entering at West Bank and Lloyd streets

• Natalie Nicole Hayes, 20, was charged Thursday with misdemeanor assault and battery in the 800 block of East Innes Street.

• Reine Struggy Augstine, 19, was charged Friday with misdemeanor breaking and entering in the 1200 block of Bringle Ferry Road.

In Rowan County Sheriff’s Office reports:

• A woman reported a stolen vehicle Wednesday in the 400 block of Spring Garden Avenue, Kannapolis.

• Timber Ridge Treatment Center reported Wednesday that a resident broke a windshield with a rock while at the center, 665 Timber Trail, Gold Hill.

• A woman reported a stolen vehicle Wednesday in the 2400 block of Lower Stone Church Road, Rockwell.

• A woman reported a stolen vehicle Wednesday in the 500 block of Woodleaf Barber Road, Cleveland.

• A man reported a break-in Wednesday in the 3200 block of Needmore Road, Woodleaf.

• Kishan Rashad Shields, 23, was charged Wednesday with misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance Schedule VI in the 200 block of Dappler Lane.
