CHINA GROVE — Last year, Darrell Harwood founded, hosted and headlined the inaugural Stand Together Music Festival in China Grove. The festival, which raised over $35,000 for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, was such a success that it will be put on for a second year this Saturday, Sept. 22.

Admission to the event is free, but donations are appreciated, as all proceeds from the festival and community fund-raising will go to support the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Funds will also be raised through merchandise sales and raffles at the event.
With a great turnout last year, Harwood says that “this year’s goal is to raise $50,000” for the cancer organization, which assists blood cancer patients with insurance copays and funds cancer research.

The festival will begin in Hanna Park at 2 p.m. Before the start of the festival, a cornhole tournament will take place, starting at 10 a.m. and finishing at 2 p.m. Food trucks, games, and more will be set up along North Main Street in China Grove.
No seating is provided, so bring a chair if you want to sit.
A Kidz Zone will also be set up on Main Street, featuring bouncy houses, face painting and more. A $5 admission fee applies for children to enter.
Darrell Harwood will headline and host the event again this year. This year’s entertainment includes:

Too Much Sylvia: 2-3 p.m.
Jill Goodson Band: 3:30-4:30 p.m.
Red Dirt Revival: 5-6 p.m.
Mother Trucker: 6:30-7:30 p.m.
Darrell Harwood: 8-10 p.m.

Between sets, a number of guests will take the stage to speak about their cancer experiences. Mooresville’s Dancers Unlimited will also perform at the event, between Red Dirt Revival and Mother Trucker from 6-6:30 p.m.
Novant Health will have a mammography unit at the festival from 2-6 p.m. at the intersection of N. Main and Park Streets.
Traffic on Main Street will be rerouted starting at noon and the street will not be reopened until the event ends at 10 p.m.
