Novant Health Rowan Medical Center Auxiliary Awards Nursing Scholarships
On Sept. 20, the Novant Health Rowan Medical Center Auxiliary presented nursing scholarships to three Rowan-Cabarrus Community College students enrolled in the Advanced Degree Nursing Program. The recipients and their guest were recognized and honored at a luncheon at the Auxiliary’s September meeting.
Each year, following an application and interview process, the Auxiliary provides scholarship assistance to students enrolled in the nursing curriculum at Rowan-Cabarrus Community College. This year’s recipients are all second year students and will complete their degree requirements next summer. The Auxiliary was honored to award the 2018 scholarships to Mrs. Ebony Rooks of Charlotte, Mrs. Amber Hudson of Mooresville and Miss Savanna Reeder of Concord.
Kannapolis History Associates present Bob Boynton on WWI
7 p.m. Monday Oct. 1: In recognition of the 100th anniversary of the end of World War I, Kannapolis’ own Bob Boynton, an experienced war re-enactor, shares his research on how Kannapolis and Cabarrus County answered the call to the War along with a display of his war artifacts. Ride the Train to the Lexington BBQ Festival
LEXINGTON – Get ready for a day filled with Lexington barbecue, live music and family friendly attractions as NC By Train gets you to the Lexington Barbecue Festival on Oct. 27, dropping you off at the welcome center thanks to a one-day special train stop.
This free festival spans a 10-block stretch of uptown Lexington with 400 vendors and plenty of barbecue. It all begins at 8:30 a.m. and runs until 6 p.m.
