Unbelievable, fantastic. Catawba College is providing four-year scholarships for up to four Service Above Self winners. This is in addition to hundreds of dollars available for the individual and group award winners

So let’s get going, parents, grandparents, teachers, nonprofits, scout leaders and neighbors. Come on, let’s nominate our Rowan kids from 5 to 18 years old for the Service Above Self Award. It is so easy.

Surely you know a child in Rowan County who has done something for others here or abroad as a volunteer. Every child nominated for the individual award will receive a framed certificate at the ceremony at Catawba College. They will walk across the stage and receive the certificate from our own Superintendent Moody. All nominators are invited to the wonderful ceremony at 6 p.m. Nov. 29 at Kepley Auditorium to witness this great celebration.

It is so easy and takes only minutes to go online at rowanserviceaboveself.com to nominate a child, but time is running out and we need to act now.

Remember, you can even nominate a group for the Service Above Self group award. Church groups, the scouts and school activity groups are always doing for others and we need to recognize them.

Please, let’s recognize our youths for their efforts. They are our future and we all need to encourage their volunteer efforts.
