SALISBURY — The Salisbury-Rowan Utilities said they had a discharge of untreated wastewater from their collection system during the storm earlier this month.
The spill occurred on Sept. 16, but the utility wasn’t alerted until Sept. 25. The untreated wastewater spill was from a manhole at 1825 West Park Road in Salisbury.
The wastewater entered into an unnamed tributary to Grants Creek of the Yadkin-Pee Dee River basin.
The West Park Road spill is the third caused by the 6 inches of rain that fell in 72 hours during Hurricane Florence.
The Southside pump station on Kluttz Street in Rockwell discharged 304,080 gallons during a span of about 11 hours.
The Salisbury-Rowan Wastewater Treatment Plant on Heiligtown Road in East Spencer spilled about 392,309 gallons of wastewater and lasted eight hours.
