Ceramics CompetitionEllis Park’s ceramic students competed in the South Carolina State Ceramic Competition in Columbia on June 13.
They entered a total of 26 pieces from six students and their instructor, Tricia Hardy. Two students came home with the top awards in their categories.Yvonne Fries won the “Jasmine” Advanced Hobbyist Award and Best of Category. She brought home a first and two second place awards.
Laura Deal won the “Jasmine” Hobbyist Award. She also took home a first, second and three third place awards.
Barbie Black won two first place awards and Virginia Graves won a first and two third place awards. Frances Ward won two firsts, a second and a third place award and Jo McDaniel won a third place award.
Instructor Tricia Hardy, competing in the “Masters” division, received two firsts, three seconds and a third place award.
Piano Recital
Piano students of Tina Brown of Rockwell presented a recital on Friday, June 12, in the fellowship hall of Organ Lutheran Church.
Students who performed were: Jace Peeler, Landon Perkins, Camry Wingler, Daniel Pell, Gabi Jolly, Alyssa Hammill, Lydia Hartung, Chelsea Green, Kevin Agner, Daniel Moose, Marian Hough, Elizabeth Lee, Taylor Morris, Sara Johnson, Laura Agner, Rebecca Agner and Carol Brown.The following students who participated in the National Piano Guild in April were recognized: Chelsea Green, Alyssa Hammill, Lydia Hartung, Marian Hough and Sara Johnson.
Recognition was given to the following students who participated in the N.C. Music Teachers Association Albemarle District Piano Contest-Festival at Catawba College in March: Laura Agner, Rebecca Agner and Elizabeth Lee.
Rebecca Agner, daughter of David and Sally Agner, received special recognition for making a “Superior” rating at the NCMTA State Piano Contest in April. She will be playing in the Honor Recital at the State Conference at UNC – Greensboro in October.
Acknowledgement was given to Landon Perkins, Camry Wingler, Daniel Pell, Alyssa Hammill, Lydia Hartung, Chelsea Green, Kevin Agner, Marian Hough, Elizabeth Lee Taylor Morris, Sara Johnson, Laura Agner, Rebecca Agner, and Carol Brown. They each received a composer statuette for completing a music activities project.
Staff Appreciation
The following staff was honored at the June general staff meeting with a service pin for the years of dedication they provided to the residents of Mooresville Center/Genesis Healthcare:

Mooresville Center thanked all of their staff for their compassion and loyalty to the residents and their families.
Rodeo Competition
Berkley Alessandrini, a 7th grader at West Rowan Middle, has earned a position on the NC State Wrangler Junior High Rodeo Team. The team will travel to Galup, N.M. June 28-July 4 to compete at the 5th annual Wrangler Junior High Final Rodeo.
She will compete in barrel racing, pole bending, goat tying, breakaway roping and ribbon roping, She will be competing for more than $75,000 in prizes, $50,000 in scholarships and a chance to be named Wrangler Junior High Finals Rodeo National Champion.
