SALISBURY — An 84-year-old woman walking along Goodnight Road was struck by a vehicle and killed, according to a North Carolina Highway Patrol report.

The crash occurred before 8 a.m. Thursday.

Mary Goodman Graham of the 900 block of Goodnight Road was walking west on Goodnight Road when a Hyundai driven by Robert Neal Martin, also traveling west, crossed the center line, ran off the road to the left and struck her.

According to Trooper J.T. Simmons’ report, the driver — Martin, 53, of the 200 block of Lillian Circle — exceeded a speed safe for conditions.

No charges were listed in the trooper’s report.
