Powerless
That word became more real in the lives of many as the result of a recent storm.
Electricity – no wonder they call it power.
Without it, here is a short list of how being powerless may render us ineffective:
Unable to eat what we want.
Unable to be as warm – or cool – as we want.
Unable to have hot water.
Unable to get where we need to go.
Unable to see due to the darkness.
Unable to receive needed communication.
Unable to perform necessary tasks effectively.
Then, as the family is all sitting at home together in our ‘living’ room – waiting… waiting… waiting – the power returns.
Do we just continue sitting there? Do we say, “You know, I kind of enjoyed not having power. Let’s just keep living like this. Let’s not use the power.”
Of course not. We jump up, turn the lights on, find food to cook, enjoy that heat or air, take a hot shower, and check on everything we may have missed…
Our joy returns because – WE HAVE POWER!
In Acts 1:8, Jesus promised that we would receive POWER:
Power of the Holy Spirit.
Power to worship.
Power to pray.
Power to testify.
Power over death.
Power in the blood.
Power over Satan.
Power in our daily lives.
Power that transforms.
So, why would we just sit there- being ineffective – when we have THE POWER?
Let’s get up!
Let’s go from powerless to powerful!
We have it. Let’s use it!
