GOLD HILL — Enjoy a fun night of ghost stories at one of the most haunted sites in Rowan County.

Ghost stories and tours will begin at The Russell-Rufty Shelter in the park at 5:30 p.m.

Tickets are $6 for adults, $3 for children 6-10, under 6 free. Tickets may be purchased in the park at the Russell-Rufty Shelter on the night of the tour only no later than 8 p.m.; no advance registration needed. Food and drink will be available for purchase.

Check out the Montgomery Store backroom photo wall for more ghost history and more recent ghost stories. A few shops in the village will also be open for shopping.

The event is a guided walking tour and hayride. Wear comfortable walking shoes — no sandals, flip-flops or open-toe shoes. Halloween costumes and or masks are not recommended. These can hamper vision and ability to walk. Dress in layers for warmth.

Have everyone in your group arrive and register together. We will keep your group together, giving escort to groups of 15-18 on each tour. Multiple tours will continue through the night until all tours are completed.

Four hayrides will be running continuous to the Powder House/Gold Hill Pond and back to the Jail. Enjoy a safe, light hearted fun event and hear ghost stories from the mining era handed down through the ages. We offer no theatrics, or horrifying costumes to scare your little ones. Of course we can’t do anything about the ghosts that may accompany you when you go home….

Be sure to bring your camera! It’s not the type of Haunted Trail Event where someone jumps out of the bushes or from behind the trees to scare your pants off. It’s honest-to goodness ghost stories that have been passed down through the generations.
