Early voting began on Wednesday, and people do not understand how essential this year’s elections is. In 2016, Rowan County had a total of 64,635 voters who participated in that year’s election. These voters consisted of:

• Republican: 29,772

• Democrat: 18,113

• Unaffiliated: 16,576

• Libertarian: 174

As of 2017, the United States Census Bureau reported that Rowan County had a population of 140,644. Of this group, the North Carolina Board of Elections projects there to be 38,525 registered Republicans in the county. In previous elections, the Republican vote has succeeded and dominated in Rowan County. It is essential for the former success of the Republican Party to carry over into this year’s midterm election.

I implore Republican and conservative-leaning unaffiliated voters to get out and vote in this year’s elections. If the Democrats get elected in, who knows what antics they will try to throw at the president? As Republicans, we are strong enough to do anything when we are united; we know this, because we were able to rally behind Bret Kavanaugh, and he got confirmed as our next justice of the Supreme Court.

You can vote at the Board of Elections office, Rockwell American Legion Building, and the South Branch, Rowan Public Library. The times to vote are 7 a.m.-7 p.m. Monday through Friday through Nov. 2. The final day to vote early will be on Saturday, Nov. 3 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Make sure to vote for your North Carolina or Rowan Republican-endorsed candidates. Candidate information can be found on the Rowan County Republican Party Facebook page and with those who are working the polls. It is also essential to vote yes for all of the amendments.  Let’s keep this county great and support our great president.
