Trump’s message, in word and deed, is clear. If you are not white, straight, Christian and male, you are not important, and you are not worthy of equal protection under the law. Racism, homophobia, and misogyny are OK. Let’s all go back to the 1950s when everyone “knew their place” (and stayed there).

However, and fortunately, the demographic change train has long since left the station, notwithstanding Trump’s, McConnell’s, Ryan’s et al.’s efforts to stop it.
