Domestic violence discussion

The Blessing of God Ministry
LEXINGTON — On Saturday at 11 a.m., The Blessing of God Ministry, 412 Westside Drive, will host the discussion “Reclaiming The Promise Land — The True Origin of the Hebrew Israelites” with featured speakers Sam and Karen Martin. This event is free and open to the public.

The New Voices Of Faith
The New Voices Of Faith of Mocksville will celebrate their 21st anniversary Saturday at Henderson Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Salisbury. Doors open at 4 p.m.; the program starts promptly at 5 p.m. Musical guests include Thelma Bass & The Faithfulaires of Durham, Echoes for Christ and Unity N Praise of along with The Shady Grove Senior Choir of East Spencer and The Oak Grove Choir of China Grove. Food and refreshments will be available courtesy of the Henderson Grove kitchen committee.

The Cove Church celebrates 20 Years
MOORESVILLE — The weekend of November 10-11 the Cove Church celebrates its 20-year anniversary. The Cove first met in two local elementary schools before moving to a permanent home on Langtree Road, and then expanding to additional campuses across the region. Mike Madding is senior and founding pastor.

Love Christian Center pastoral anniversary

Word of Life Veteran recognition service
Word of Life Family Worship Center will have their annual Veteran’s Recognition Service on Sunday during the 10 a.m. service. Veterans and active duty members of the military will be recognized.
The theme of the service is “The Price They Paid.” Dr. Martha Starks, pastor, will speak and patriotic music will be provided by the Gospel Choir as well as special solos.

Mount Zion UCC
CHINA GROVE — The 10:30 a.m. service at Mt. Zion UCC, 1415 S. Main St., will include a time of blessing for the Operation Christmas Child Shoe Box donations, followed by a spaghetti dinner in the new building. Children and youth will be decorating Thanksgiving fruit baskets to be delivered the following Sunday.

ROCKWELL — Five Catechetical students will receive First Communion with their families on Sunday as Immanuel Lutheran celebrates the Sacrament of Holy Communion and Veteran’s Day during the 11 a.m. service. Catechism teachers are Judy Harwood and Rev. Bruce Sheeks. Students and parents are: Ethan (Brian and Macheal Humes); Callie and Wyatt (Darrin and Lisa Trexler); Kayla (Tracy and Sheri Trexler); and a child of Pam York.
All veterans present will be honored during the service. Veterans are invited to wear their uniforms or any insignia indicating branch of service. Other members of the congregation are invited to wear patriotic attire.

Southern City’s 119th church anniversary

Blessing of the Children service
The F.A.C.T. (Families and Communities Together) Blessing of the Children Service is Sunday at Mt. Calvary Holy Church, 1400 Standish St.
The object lesson will be presented by Dr. Mary A. Love and the meditation by Deacon Theo Fleming and Miss Ariayanna White.
The program will also highlight the accomplishments of member churches’ children and youth who recently made the All A and A & B Honor Roll, Perfect Attendance and Good Citizenship awards.

New London UMC concert
NEW LONDON — On Sunday, New London United Methodist Church, 206 S. Main St., will host a Music in Missions Concert at 4:30 p.m. This date is the 100th anniversary of the end of World War I. In observance, the concert is “The Pity of War: A Requiem for All Affected by World War I.”
Guest soloist is Dr. David Hamilton, a member of the voice faculty at Catawba College. There is no charge for the concert; an offering will be received to assist the Kannapolis Bible Teaching Association.

Second Sunday Singing at St. Matthews Lutheran
St. Matthews Lutheran Church, 9275 Bringle Ferry Road, hosts its Second Sunday singing at 7 p.m. on Sunday with Carson High School doing a performance.

Veterans program at Soldiers Memorial
On Monday, Nov. 12, the Women’s Fellowship of Soldiers Memorial AME Zion Church will meet at 11 a.m. in the Enrichment Center, 306 N. Church St. Guest speaker will be Rev. Dr. Ethel Bamberg-Revis, chaplain at the VA Hospital, speaking on post-traumatic stress related to veterans. Veterans are invited to attend. Lunch will be s served.
