Nominating our youth or a youth group to be recognized for volunteer service can make a huge difference, because our youth are the future leaders and volunteers in our community. Nominations are now being accepted through Friday.

The Rowan Rotary Club, Rowan United Way, Cheerwine and Catawba College are partners for the 2018 Service Above Self Youth Awards, which recognize children for volunteer service performed between Aug. 1, 2017, and Oct. 21, 2018. Children and youth between 5-18 years of age will be recognized for their volunteer service at an awards banquet to be held at Keppel Auditorium on the Catawba College Campus at 6:30 p.m. on Nov. 29.

All nominees will be recognized, and the top three individuals and three organizations in each division will receive medals and a check. Awards range from $50 up to $250 for individual winners, and $50 to $500 for groups and organizations. Additionally, the top middle and high school winners will receive $60,000 worth of scholarships to Catawba College.

Nomination forms are available at www.rowanserviceaboveself.com or from the Rowan United Way office at 1930 Jake Alexander Blvd. W. It only takes a few minutes to complete a nomination.

Completed forms may be submitted via email to Tara Bailey at admin@rcunitedway.org , via fax at 704-633-1805, or via US mail to United Way of Rowan, 1930 Jake Alexander Blvd. W, Salisbury, 28144.

Your nomination(s) will allow us to recognize the great volunteer service our children and youth have given to our community and encourage them to be volunteers for life. Don’t wait —nominate.
