Unemployment rates drops to 3.1 percent in Rowan County

SALISBURY — The unemployment rate for Rowan County hit 3.1 percent in September, according to the N.C. Department of Commerce.
The rate dropped 0.7 percent from August and 1.3 percent from September 2017.
Statewide unemployment saw a decrease as well, now at 3.1 percent, compared to 3.9 percent in August and 4.1 percent in September 2017.
Cabarrus County had a 2.8 percent unemployment rate, dropping 0.8 percent from August and 0.9 percent within a year.
Other neighboring counties’ unemployment rates for September were:
- Davidson: 2.9 percent, from 3.8 percent in August and 4.0 percent in 2017.
- Davie: 2.7 percent, decreasing 0.8 percent from August and 1.1 percent from September 2017
- Iredell: 2.7 percent, a decrease from 3.5 percent in August and 4.0 percent from September last year.
- Stanly: 2.8 percent, from 3.7 percent in August and 3.9 in September 2017.
Unemployment rates dropped in all 100 counties. Since 2017, the number of workers employed in North Carolina increased by 24,079 from September 2017.
