Spencer’s 13-14 All-Stars defeated East Rowan 10-5 to advance to the next round.
Leading hitters were John Hartley, Jake Smith, Kevin Burnham and Bryson Shepperd with two apiece. Shepperd pitched four innings of relief, allowing one run, and earned the win.
Smith pitched a five-inning no-hitter in a 16-0 victory against Alamance County. He walked two. Leading hitters were Shepperd and Burnham with three apiece. Coleman Wilson and Mason Jennings had two hits each.
Spencer beat Davie 9-4. Smith was the winning pitcher, tossing a six-hitter. Hartley and Skyler Mickelson led the offense with two hits each.
Smith had two hits in an 8-4 loss against East Surry.
Other members of the Spencer team are Denzel Price, Travis Holshouser, Luke Setzer, Justin Norman and Matt Tucker.
