The Kannapolis Intimidators had a seven-game winning streak snapped in a sluggish 8-3 loss against the Greensboro Grasshoppers on Tuesday at Fieldcrest Cannon Stadium.
Greensboro jumped out to a 5-0 lead, banged out 14 hits and was never seriously threatened.
Kyle Kaminska (8-7) got the win for the Grasshoppers, going six innings while allowing three runs.
Brandon Short knocked in two runs for the Intimidators.
– Minor leagues
Daniel Wagner (South Rowan) had two doubles and two RBIs in Bristol’s 5-4 win against Johnson City on Tuesday.
* Tim Smith (Catawba) pitched a scoreless inning for Savannah on Tuesday.
– Football edition
The Post’s annual prep football edition is scheduled for Aug. 19.
The edition will feature previews, schedules, team photos and dozens of individual and group photos from the six Rowan schools as well as A.L. Brown and Davie.
– China Grove Middle
China Grove Middle School fall sports practices will start on the following dates and times. Players must have a physical to participate.
* Football: Monday, Aug. 17, 6-8 p.m. Players should report at 5 p.m.
* Girls tennis: Tryouts are Aug. 19 and 21 from 3:30-4:30 p.m.
* Softball: Tryouts are Aug. 18 from 3:30-5:30 p.m.
– Strongman contest
The Strongest Man at the Y event is set for Hurley YMCA at 1 p.m. this Saturday.
Contestants will participate in unusual events such as tire flipping and bus pulling.
– Corbin golf
The Corbin Hills Women’s Golf Association played a Captain’s Choice tournament on Tuesday.
The first-place team was Liz Murphy, Carolyn Ries and Nancy Carlson.
The second-place team was Susan Morris, Jean Hill and Faye Cline.
– CCFL
The Iredell Warriors (4-0, 3-0) remained unbeaten with a 26-10 victory against Catawba Valley.
The Warriors visit the Carolina Eagles in Concord this Saturday.
The Rowan Rampage-Warriors showdown is coming up in a few weeks.
– South reserve seats
South Rowan now is selling season tickets to the general public for the upcoming football season. They can be purchased at the school office from 8 a.m.-3:30 p.m.
The seats will get you into South’s scrimmage Friday night against Lake Norman and Cuthbertson, a new school in western Union County.
The scrimmage begins at 6 p.m.
– Carson reserve seats
Carson will be selling reserved football seats on Tuesday from 5-7 p.m. in front of the school.

n South golf tourneyThe South Rowan Alumni Association Golf tournament has openings for a tournament to be played Saturday, Aug. 15, at Warrior.
The format is Captain’s Choice.

– Knox athletics
Knox seventh-grade football players may pick up equipment today, while eighth-graders can pick up equipment on Thursday. Pickup is from 5:30-7 p.m. The first practice is Monday at 4:15 p.m.
– Fall ball sign-ups
East Rowan Little League baseball and softball registration will be accepted at the Rockwell Elementary ball field shelter on Saturday, Aug. 15, from 10-noon and on Sunday, Aug. 16 from 2-4.
Registration will be taken at the same times the weekend of Aug. 22-23.
Levels of play include Machine Pitch, Minors, Majors and Juniors.
* Rowan Little League is accepting sign-ups at Godley’s Garden for baseball and softball for ages 5-14. Cost is $30.

– Tennis lessons
The Catawba tennis team will again be offering fall junior tennis clinics on Tuesday evenings, Saturday mornings, and Sunday afternoons.
