We’re seven days away from the Electric Elf’s rundown of spectacular local holiday displays, and we’ve received lots of great suggestions.

Until the map’s release, here’s a list of other, more commercial Christmas light shows to enjoy with your families:

Celebration of Lights and Winterland Express

This Kannapolis celebration features more than 250,000 lights. Visit for a stroll through the spectacle, a ride on the carousel or a ride on the Winterland Express train.

Other activities include roasting marshmallows and make s’mores, visiting with Santa in his studio and watching the Kannapolis Singing Bears and their 30-minute Christmas carol performance each hour on the hour.

• Price: Free park admission; train and carousel $2 per person per ride

• Location: 700 W. C St., Kannapolis

• Dates: Through Dec. 30; closed Christmas Eve and Christmas Day

• Hours: 6-9 p.m. Sunday-Thursday; 6-10 p.m. Friday and Saturday

 

Christmas Town U.S.A

This 1.3-mile route through a historic mill village features more than 160 beautifully decorated homes, 265 evergreens covered with more than 500,000 lights, and a large lake with a fountain and lighted displays reflected in the water. The Gaston County tradition has be held annually since 1956. Drive or walk through nightly.

• Hours: 5:30-9:30 p.m. Monday-Friday; 5:30-11 p.m. Saturday and Sunday

Christmas Wonderland of Lights at Zootastic Park

Drive through the lighted Reindeer Trail and stop for fun attractions like a Ferris wheel and trackless train. The lighted animal adventure includes opportunities to meet Santa and take photos with him and a baby kangaroo, pony rides, s’mores, giraffe feeding, tiger feeding, barn feeding and a carousel.

• Price: $7 per person

• Dates: Through Jan. 1

• Hours: 6-9 p.m. Sunday-Thursday; 6-10 p.m. Friday and Saturday

Country Christmas Train at Denton FarmPark

Admission to the Denton FarmPark includes a lighted walking tour through the park, including a visit to the church to sing carols, the service station, gingerbread house, general store, doll museum, petting zoo several arts and crafts exhibits, and rides on the Handy Dandy Railroad with a brief nativity movie and live scenes.

Trains depart every half-hour from 5:30-9 p.m. Photos with Santa, wagon rides, pony rides, Ferris wheel rides and animal food for the petting zoo are available for additional charges.

• Price: Adults $13 ($15 on Saturdays); children 5-11 $5; children 4 and younger free

• Location: 4259 Handy Road, Denton

• Dates: Friday-Sunday; Dec. 13-16; Dec. 19-23; and Dec. 26-27

Speedway Christmas

Back for its ninth year, the Speedway Christmas drive-through light show features more than 3.5 million lights spread through a 3.75-mile course.

Thursday through Sunday, the event also features a Christmas village, including a Ferris wheel, Bethlehem village, photos with Santa, food, games, s’mores and movies on the Speedway TV.

• Price: Thursday and Sunday, $25 per car (maximum of 10), $50 per van (maximum of 36), $175 per bus (maximum of 57); Friday and Saturday: $30 per car, $50 per van, $175 per bus; Monday-Wednesday, $20 per car, $40 per van, $140 per bus

Tanglewood Festival of Lights

Drive through Tanglewood Park’s 5 miles to enjoy more than 100 displays and 1 million lights. The park includes a little something for everyone: a menorah, kinara, manger scene, reindeer, horses, trains and more. Stop midtrail at the gift shop and S’moresville, complete with roasting sticks, marshmallows and s’mores kits for purchase

• Price: Family cars, vans and trucks, $15; commercial vans, limos and mini-buses, $35; motor coaches and buses, $100
