Mary Martin, brilliant but modest and unassuming, was a friend and mentor to me during the magical but mostly forgotten years of the Salisbury City Schools. Mary Martin always knew the perfect book to suggest to her students and to the members of her book clubs. I was fortunate to be in The Barbara Chesky Book Club with her for at least 40 years. Oh what a classy, committed, caring educator she was!
