We’re going to start 2019 the same way we’re finishing 2018 — wet.

Today, watch out for widespread heavy fog, which could reduce visibility to under 1 mile. We also have a 60 percent chance of rain this morning, then showers between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. It will be cloudy and fairly warm, 62. Wind will be from the south at 5-8 mph. A tenth to quarter inch of rain is possible.

Tonight includes a 50 percent chance of showers before 10 p.m., then rain through 2 a.m., then back to showers. It will still be foggy, with a low of 58. Winds will be south southwest at 10-13 mph, gusting up to 18 mph. Less than a tenth of an inch of rain is expected. Be careful if you are out celebrating tonight.

New Year’s Day will be cloudy and 66, with a 40 percent chance of showers, mainly before 3 p.m. Patchy fog is likely in the morning. Winds will be west at 3-7 mph. The chance of showers drops to 20 percent Tuesday night, with mostly cloudy skies and a low of 45. North northeast wind will be at 3-6 mph.

Wednesday brings a new round of rain, with a 50 percent chance of showers after 11 a.m. It will be mostly cloudy and 53, with northeast wind at 3-6 mph. Wednesday night has a 70 percent chance of showers before 9 p.m., then rain. It will be cloudy and 42.

This rain, falling on top of already saturated ground, will lead to a greater risk of creeks, streams and rivers flooding. Many bodies of water are already above flood stage, with water out of the banks. Be alert for standing water.

Thursday also has a 70 percent chance of rain. It will be cloudy and 51. The same chance of rain is possible Thursday night, with mostly cloudy skies and a low of 41.

Friday, too, will have a 70 percent chance of rain, especially in the morning, but skies will begin to clear, and it will become partly sunny and 53. It will be a cold and clear night, with a low of 34.

Saturday should be sunny and 56, with a low of 35.

And Sunday should also be 56 and sunny.
