Thanks for Sasha’s birthday party
When Sasha, the cat at the Stitchin Post, has a birthday, her owner celebrates in style. Once again, Pam Hylton Coffield and her staff used Sasha’s birthday as a fund- and food-raiser for Faithful Friends. More than $1,000 was raised to help fund the shelter that is soon to be built. On top of that, the generous customers brought five carloads of food and other supplies to help those of us who foster the animals in our homes.
Thanks to Pam and her staff for their hard work in having the party and collecting all of the goodies. Thanks to the customers and others who took time to bring the supplies. I met a lady who had just brought things as I was actually loading them into my car. I think that was a thrill for both of us.
Thanks again to Pam, the staff, Faithful Friends volunteers, customers and anyone else who helped with this fund/foodraiser. For those of us who foster, you are all angels.

Civilians injured?
Since the bombing of the two tankers in Afghanistan, the furor raised has caused injury to our own troops.
If the politicos want to win the hearts and minds of the civilians, send in the Peace Corps. If you want to kill the enemy ó which, by the way, is what war is all about ó then send in the military.
If they know we won’t fire into a village because of the “possibility” of civilian casualties, guess where they are going to fire from.
When commanders withhold fire on the enemy, it allows the enemy to continue to fire on our troops.
We have a brave and strong military. Let them use the advantages we have.
Generals Eisenhower and MacArthur must be turning over in their graves. General McChrystal seems to have forgotten what the object is, or is he going to retire and run for office?

Who will apologize?
Regarding the Light Park article on Sept. 9:
How very sweet of Chairman Carl Ford to apologize to Commissioner Tina Hall for Mike Miller’s remarks. I can’t help but wonder who’ll apologize for the $1.3 million in lost revenue for the our county.
