Home and landscape show in Concord; events in Belmont

CONCORD — Jan. 25-27 will be the 15th Annual Greater Charlotte Home & Landscape Show at Cabarrus Arena & Events Center.
You can learn about trends and ideas to update and enhance your home. Many favorites return with new exhibitors along with nationally known experts.
Exhibits will display the latest in products and services from builders, contractors, materials, decks, pools, spas, storage, plants, landscapes, kitchenware and much more. Plus, kids can do hands-on workshops.
Showtimes: Jan. 25, 2-6 p.m.; Jan. 26, 10 a.m.-6 p.m.; and Jan. 27, 11 a.m.-5 p.m.
Look for:
• Kitchen feature and granite showcase by East Coast Granite.
• Celebrity guests Wayde King and Brett Raymer of Animal Planet’s “Tanked,” plus DIY painting expert Brian Santos, The Wall Wizard, will present seminars on painting all weekend long.
• Landscape exhibits throughout the show.
• Bring your ideas, plans and pictures to discuss with local experts at their booths.
• Cabarrus Master Gardeners will test your soil and share tips on what’s best for your yard.
• Interior design seminars by Anna Stowe -Great Design 4 U
• Winery Row – adults can taste and buy local wines.
• Get A New Bestie at pet adoption locations at the show.

Stowe Garden events
BELMONT — In response to the government shutdown, Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden invites federal employees to spend time at the garden for free in an effort to reduce stress during this difficult time.
The garden will grant all federal employees (plus one guest) free admission with a valid ID to connect with nature through Jan. 31.
This includes admission to the Art & Orchids exhibit opening Jan. 26.
The Garden is open 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily throughout January. Beginning Feb.1, the Garden will be open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. General admission for members is free, $12.95 for adults, $11.95 for seniors 60+, and $6.95 for children 2-12.
The garden and Saltwater Markets will host the third annual Oyster Roast on Jan. 27 from 1 to 4 p.m.
Guests may choose all-you-can-eat steamed oysters, cornbread, live music by LA Acoustic, and a selection of beer and other beverages for purchase.
Oyster “dumps” will begin at 1 p.m. and continue once every half hour while supplies last. This event is rain or shine and held in a covered, outdoor pavilion.
Reservations are required by noon Jan. 25, but are likely to sell out, and can be made online at www.DSBG.org or by calling 704-829-1294. Tickets are $50/adult (members receive a discount) and $12/child 12 and under (will receive a child’s portion of 12 oysters). Tickets include admission to the Garden.
