Literary Bookpost, in conjunction with the English department of Catawba College, will host the season’s first Black Cat Poetry Reading on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. This reading brings two North Carolina poets to the event.
Rhett Iseman Trull won the Anhinga Prize for Poetry for her first book, “The Real Warnings.” Her poems have appeared or are forthcoming in The American Poetry Review, Best New Poets 2008, Prairie Schooner, The Southern Review, and other publications.
Her awards include prizes from the Academy of American Poets and the Dorothy Sargent Rosenberg Foundation. She received her B.A. from Duke University and her MFA from UNC- Greensboro, where she was a Randall Jarrell Fellow. She and her husband publish Cave Wall in Greensboro.
Allison Elrod is a poet and essayist whose work draws deeply on her love of plain language and ordinary life. Her essays have appeared in The Living Church and on Charlotte’s National Public Radio station, WFAE, and her poems have been recognized by the Randall Jarrell Poetry Competition and the Poet Laureate Awards of the NC Poetry Society. Her recent work is included in Kakalak, an Anthology of Carolina Poets. She lives in Davidson, where she raises sons and border collies.
Kimberlei Paige at Saturday Salon
Kimberlei Paige of High Point will be the featured author for the Saturday Salon at Literary Bookpost on Sept. 26, 1:30-3:30 p.m.
Paige will sign copies of her recently published new age novel, “Mirrored Souls of Osiris.” A passionate, gripping, over-the-edge novel of an ancient love triangle spanning 3,000 years, “Mirrored Souls of Osiris” is a novel for the time traveler fan as well as the new age reader.
Paige is a laboratory technician in the Salisbury area. When not working in the medical field, she writes and keeps up with her two children, Avery and Savannah.
