Mocksville ó Ingersoll Rand hosted more than 50 members of the Association of Ingersoll Rand distributors organization at its Mocksville facility this past week.
The tour of the facility was part of the group’s week-long annual meeting, which was held at Ingersoll Rand’s facilities in Davidson.
The Mocksville tour was included in this year’s agenda to highlight the significant investment and support of Ingersoll Rand and Davie County in establishing the Mocksville facility as an Ingersoll Rand Center of Excellence. During the tour, the group saw the remodeled assembly and test areas and gained insight into efficiency generated by having the assembly area integrated with the manufacturing facility.
Laser procedure details will be discussed at doctor’s open house
Dr. J.N. Holmes’ office will have an open house Sept. 27 from 3 to 5 p.m. to introduce people to the idea of laser procedures, explain how procedures are performed and show a video.
Dorenda Stilwell has been an electrologist for 31 years and a laser practitioner for almost 10 years and is licensed by the state for both.
She does laser hair removal, facial and leg veins, age spots and skin tightening at Dr. Holmes’ office with a Gentlemax Candela Laser.

Two insurance agents designated Certified Insurance Counselors
The designation of Certified Insurance Counselor has been conferred upon Dale Peeler and Will Harrell, both of Central Carolina Insurance Agency in Salisbury, following their successful completion of a rigorous insurance education program sponsored by the Society of Certified Insurance Counselors.
The announcement was made during an official ceremony conducted recently in Greensboro.
Peeler recently completed his 20th year in the insurance industry and has been employed by Central Carolina Insurance Agency for the last 8 years.
He and his wife, Sherri, have four sons, Cameron, Gabe, Jace and Braden. They live in Faith.
Harrell has worked at Central Carolina for 10 years. He and his wife and two children live in Salisbury.
Faithful Friends’ president attends state conference on scholarship
Faithful Friends Animal Sanctuary president Anne Ingram attended the N.C. Center for Nonprofits statewide conference Sept. 9 to 11, on a scholarship from the Blanche and Julian Robertson Family Foundation. The conference, called Hope in Chaotic Times, was held in at the Concord Convention Center.
Concord chef earns certification from culinary federation
Bradley D. Lebarre of Concord has earned the certified executive chef designation from the American Culinary Federation, Inc. Lebarre is executive chef at Cabarrus Country Club in Concord and a member of American Culinary Federation Charlotte chapter.
Candidates for certification must have a high level of work and educational experience and pass both a written and practical examination. In addition, candidates must complete coursework in food safety, nutrition and supervisory management.
A certified executive chef must supervise a minimum of five full-time employees and pass a practical exam in front of peers.
In the practical exam, chefs use selected ingredients to write and produce a three-course menu, including fish, salad and main course. Chefs must adhere to strict guidelines, such as time, amount of ingredients, presentation and cooking techniques.

Of 509 publicly traded banks and thrifts with a market cap of less than $2 billion, First Bancorp was one of only 30 institutions in the nation selected to Sandler O’Neill’s “Sm-All Star” list for 2009. First Bancorp was one of only eight institutions to be selected for this list in both 2008 and 2009, and First Bancorp was the only North Carolina bank on the 2009 list. The Sandler O’Neill analysis focused on growth, profitability, credit quality, and capital strength.
Orthopedic surgeon to lead research on extremity injuries
Dr. Michael Bosse of Carolinas Medical Center’s Department of Orthopedic Surgery will serve as the chairman of a U.S. Army-sponsored Orthopedic Extremity Trauma Research Consortium.
The project includes 11 other U.S. Level 1 Trauma Centers and four Department of Defense centers. The consortium is funded for five years with $18 million. Dr. Bosse partners with Dr. Ellen MacKenzie at Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health as the project’s lead investigators.
Facilities in the consortium will enroll and study patients who have severe extremity injuries. The research is expected to help medical personnel improve the healing of severe open fractures, lower infection rates and identify better strategies to treat infections that result from the trauma. The goal of the consortium is to improve the care and the outcomes for patients, military and civilian, who are faced with major limb injuries.
