South Rowan’s Courtney Barbee shot 48 in an NPC match at Warrior on Monday.
Barbee recently tied the school record of 41 in a match at McCanless.
n Prep football
Note that North Rowan’s varsity football game this Friday will be played at South Stanly.
Both teams originally listed the contest as a home game. Publications and Web sites have the game being played in Spencer, but it will actually be contested in Norwood.
n Gates will open at 5:30 p.m. for South Rowan’s game at West Rowan on Friday.
n Reserved parking for Friday’s Salisbury home football game with Davie can be purchased in the school office from 8-3:45 through Friday. Parking passes are $3 each.

n Prep tennis
Salisbury’s girls tennis team won 9-0 against CCC foe East Davidson on Monday.
The Hornets (12-0, 4-0 CCC) dropped a total of two games in six singles matches and had two shutouts in doubles.
Hannah Lebowitz, Joy Loeblein, Erika Nelson, Katelyn Storey, Sierra Davis and Mary Margaret Mills were singles winners. Nelson-Storey, Loeblein-Davis and Sarah Shirley-Alex Yarborough won in doubles.
n Prep soccer
East Rowan lost to NPC opponent Statesville 3-0 on Monday.
East keeper Dillon Arey made four amazing saves in the first half to keep the Mustangs in the game.
Statesville led 2-0 at the half despite Arey’s strong game. Corey Sloan, Alex Pritchard and Jose Boquin scored for the Greyhounds (3-4-1, 1-1 NPC).
“Statesville played one heck of game,” East coach John McNeil said. “They are fast and have great skill with the ball. They are without a doubt the best team we have seen this year, and I’m not sure we were ready for that type of game.”
East played without standouts Levi Huffman and Jan Garus and started seven sophs.
n Middle school football
West Rowan’s seventh-grade football team defeated Knox 26-6 after building a 20-0 lead.
Marquez McCain had 200 all-purpose yards for the Bulldogs. He had a 70-yard kickoff return to open the game and added scoring runs of 35 and 25 yards. Alexis Archie scored a two-point conversion.
M.J. Rayner was a defensive standout with five solo tackless and two fumble recoveries.
Marshall Ball, Hunter Meismer and Malik Thompson had strong games for the Bulldogs.
n Earlier, West beat Corriher-Lipe 34-12, with McCain scoring on four of his five touches from scrimmage and also a 60-yard pass from Archie.
Davon Steele scored a two-point conversion. Deandre Pledge made an interception.
West’s next game is against Southeast.
n College tennis
Both Catawba tennis teams improved to 2-0 with wins against J.C. Smith on Tuesday.
Catawba’s women rolled 9-0, and the men won 6-3.
n Catawba’s teams opened the season with wins against Belmont Abbey on Monday.
Catawba’s women prevailed 9-0 and did not lose a set. Catawba’s men won 7-2.
Steffi Cook, Kasia Zielinski, Vanessa Silva, Jen Denyes and Candace Hall won in singles and doubles.
Catawba’s men benefited from three-set wins by Uri Yarkoni and Thomas Mitchell.
n Pfeiffer athletics
Pfeiffer’s women’s soccer team battled to a 2-2 tie with Mount Olive on Tuesday.
Alyssa Wombwell and Sara Brown scored for the Falcons (2-3-3, 0-1-2).
n Pfeiffer’s men’s soccer tam beat Mount Olive 3-2 on Tuesday. Kash Knight scored twice for the Falcons (4-3, 2-1). Luke Vernon had two assists.
n Pfeiffer’s women’s volleyball team won 3-1 at St. Andrews on Tuesday.
Brittany Dickens had 10 kills for Pfeiffer (7-6, 4-1).
n North Hills cross country
The North Hills girls cross country team totaled 14 points and defeated Park Ridge Christian, which had 26.
North Hills runner Natalie Whicker was first overall in 15:34.
The North Hills boys won with 12 points. Will Cody was first overall in 13:56.
n Corbin Hills ladies golf
The Corbin Hills Ladies Golf Association played in a most of a kind, low-gross, low-net event on Tuesday.
Most of a kind was won by Anna Robinson, with Faye Cline second. Becky Isenhour won low gross, with Phyllis Durland second. Azalee Story won low net, with Beth Calhoun second. Ruth Bowles had low putts.

In the Back to School Classic Nations baseball tournament, Tyler Belk pitched a one-hitter for the Rowan Razorbacks.
