East Rowan defeated West Rowan 8-1 in NPC tennis on Wednesday.
East got singles wins from Brittany Honeycutt, Devan Corpening, Kayela Wilson, Katie Cassady and Hannah Pressley. Madison Rusher was the lone winner for the Falcons.
Honeycutt-Corpening, Megan Bullins-Wilson and Brett Kesler-Cassady were doubles winners for the Mustangs.
* Salisbury defeated Lexington 9-0 on Wednesday to stay unbeaten. Hannah Lebowitz, Joy Loeblein, Erika Nelson, Katelyn Storey, Anna Page and Sierra Davis were singles winners for the Hornets (15-0, 7-0 CCC).
Nelson-Storey, Page-Davis and Mary Margaret Mills-Mally Fisher won in doubles.
– Prep soccer
Salisbury’s varsity team bounced back from its first loss with a 4-2 CCC victory against Central Davidson on Wednesday.
The third-ranked Hornets played without injured keeper Connor Miller, but Scott Van der Poel filled in admirably. Salisbury (11-1-1, 1-1) led 3-0 at the half.
Matt Marshallís diagonal cross to B.J. Woods produced the first goal of the night.
Paul Kollie lofted a long pass to Michael Mazur, who knocked it down with his chest and pounded in the Hornetsí second goal. Coach Tom Sexton described the goal as an ěESPN highlight.î
Woods set up John Romero for the final goal of the half.
Kollie assisted on another goal with another long pass. Mazur knocked in his second goal to give the Hornets a 4-0 lead.
ěWe were a completely different team in the first half tonight,î Sexton said. ěWeíre getting our legs back after that long break.î
* Salisbury’s jayvees (2-0-1) topped Central Davidson 4-0, with Cristian Mendoza, Tyler Petty, Donovan Perez and Alexis Trujillo scoring goals, and Brian Vanegas turning in a strong outing in goal.
* East Rowan lost to North Iredell 4-1 in NPC play on Wednesday.
Jeffery Pangnavong lofted a ball over the North Iredell defense and Jan Garus found the back of the net to give East an early 1-0 lead.
North Iredell took the lead for good in the 30th minute and led 2-1 at halftime.
Kenan Watson scored twice for the Raiders.
* Carson beat West Iredell 3-1, while Statesville downed South Rowan 8-0.
– Prep volleyball
Carsonís volleyball team won a nonconference match at Providence Grove 29-31, 25-27, 25-20, 25-11, 15-10 on Wednesday to improve to 14-2. Carsonís jayvees won 25-21, 25-12.
– Pfeiffer athletics
Pfeifferís Lindsey Phillips was named the Conference Carolinas Runner of the Week for womenís cross country.
* Pfeifferís womenís volleyball team swept visiting Belmont Abbey on Wednesday for its seventh straight win. The Falcons are 10-6 overall and 7-1 in league play.
* Lindsay McQuade scored a tiebreaking goal with two minutes left to lead Pfeifferís womenís soccer team to a 3-1 win against Chowan on Wednesday.
* Pfeiffer beat Lenoir-Rhyne 2-1 on Wednesday. Renata Barbosa and Kash Knight scored for the Falcons.

West Rowan tailback K.P. Parks is a nominee for the N.C. STEP ěNo Spitî All-Star honor for last weekís game against South Rowan.
– North Hills soccer
North Hills Middleís soccer team defeated Davidson Day 4-0 on Wednesday.
Zack Sukkasem had a hat trick for the Eagles. Cameron Taylor scored the other goal.
Sam Reeder and Jay Wood combined for 10 saves to lead a strong defense.
– Catawba athletics
Catawba was runner-up at the Tusculum Fall Classic menís golf tournament.
Jonathan Clapp and Eric Schmehl led Catawba, finishing second and third, respectively. Clapp was a single shot behind medalist David Talley of Tusculum. Clapp shot 71-70 ó 141, while Schmehl shot 73-69 ó 142.
* Dana Dolbow scored the lone goal with 10 minutes left to lift Catawbaís field hockey team to a 1-0 victory at Roanoke on Wednesday.
* Wingate defeated Catawbaís tennis teams in SAC matches on Wednesday. Wingateís women won 7-2, sweeping doubles. Wingateís men won 7-2 and swept singles. Both Catawba teams are 3-1.
* Catawba womenís soccer team lost 1-0 to SAC foe Newberry on Wednesday. Lindsay Webster made five saves for Catawba (6-3-1, 1-1). Megan Douglas scored for Newberry.
* Catawbaís menís soccer team lost at Wingate 4-2 on Wednesday in SAC action.
Luke Mulholland scored twice for the Bulldogs. Catawba (4-5-1, 0-1-1)
– Gray Stone cross country
Gray Stoneís cross country teams won a YVC meet on Tuesday. Gray Stoneís Dalton Wally set a course record. He was clocked in 16:43.
Other top runners for Gray Stone were Kaleb Medlin (fourth, 17:33), Harrison Latimer (fifth, 17:37), Mygel Bergstresser (sixth, 17:56) and Eldon Zacek (10th, 18:29).
Gray Stoneís Hunter Latimer won the girls race in 20:25. Other Gray Stone leaders were Janna Featherstone (20:57), Amber Watkins (21:30), Mary Bersgstresser (22:58), Kendall Taylor (24:54) and Katherine Barrows (25:03).
Gray Stoneís boys are ranked second in 1A, while the girls are ranked fifth.
