Prep tennis: Salisbury sweeps doubleheader

Salisbury’s girls tennis team played a state-approved doubleheader against Thomasville on Monday, and 16 different players contributed for the Hornets in a pair of 9-0 victories.
Thomasville was unable to participate in the first scheduled meeting because of a swine flu outbreak.
Hannah Lebowitz, Joy Loeblein, Erika Nelson, Katelyn Storey, Anna Page and Sierra Davis won singles matches for Salisbury (17-0, 9-0 CCC) in the opener. Alex Yarborough-Sarah Shirley, Mary Margaret Mills-Mally Fisher and Sallie Kate Meyerhoeffer-Caroline Graham recorded doubles victories.
Loeblein, Mills, Meyerhoeffer, Graham, Shirley and Yarborough won eight-game pro sets in the second meeting. Meredith Hovis-Lauren Gray, Savannah Ware-Jordan Pring and Mills-Fisher were doubles winners.
The Hornets dropped a total of six games in 18 matches. They will play Ledford today and East Davidson on Wednesday.
