nGame notes: It’s Oct. 10, and the Hornets finally get to play a conference game in their downsized, six-team league. The Hornets will be on the road for the second straight year in this series. Schedules get twisted around a bit every time there’s a realignment of conferences.
When this season started, everyone pointed at the Salisbury-Thomasville game Oct. 30 as the CCC title bout.
Nothing happened in non-conference skirmishes to change that line of thinking. Neither Salisbury nor Thomasville (2-4) has the record it envisioned having at this point, but both held their own against big schools while losing tough games.
The past four years, physical West Davidson has been Salisbury’s toughest obstacle in the CCC, but it will be a major surprise if the Green Dragons, who are down quite a bit, can make this one interesting.
Carson beat West Davidson 33-0. Salisbury beat Carson 50-6.

West Davidson quarterback James McCandies is a good athlete and will test DBs such as Joseph Figueroa.Salisbury backs Ike Whitaker, Romar Morris and Dejoun Jones should have big nights. QB John Knox (ankle) also should be getting back close to 100 percent.
