LANDIS — The Landis Board of Aldermen has called an emergency meeting to discuss appointing Kenny Isenhour as interim town manager and to go into a closed session to discuss legal matters at 8 a.m. Tuesday at Town Hall.

Last week, Mayor Mike Mahaley announced that Town Manager Reed Linn and Finance Officer Ginger Gibson had resigned effective immediately as the State Bureau of Investigation began looking into allegations of embezzlement. Linn and Gibson, along with an unnamed third person, are the subjects in the SBI investigation.

It was announced at a Feb. 4 Board of Aldermen meeting that Linn would retire and Isenhour, who is the current police chief, would become interim town manager in March. But after the resignation of Linn, the mayor said that Isenhour would be town manager beginning at noon last Friday. 

At Tuesday’s meeting, Isenhour will be officially announced as interim town manager, Mahaley said Monday.

Isenhour was previously principal of Millbridge Elementary School.

After the aldermen are scheduled to go into closed session, Mahaley said, he will make a brief announcement, but it will not deal with the SBI investigation.

Linn was also the town’s fire chief and resigned that job on Friday.

Some Landis residents asked for transparency about the hiring process at the Feb. 4 meeting and about the salaries of town administrators.

Mahaley said the town board has started searching for a new finance director and will hold a special meeting to appoint someone. Mahaley said he is unsure about the timeline for the hire but it will not be discussed at Tuesday’s meeting.

In an interview Friday, Mahaley said he and the aldermen are focused on getting the town back on track.

Tuesday’s meeting was set for Town Hall, 312 S. Main St.
