WELCOME — Salisbury’s girls clinched the Central Carolina Conference regular-season championship on Tuesday with a 69-54 win at North Davidson.

Bryanna Troutman scored 21 points for the Hornets (19-3, 15-2)  and added 13 rebounds, nine assists and four steals.

Jaleiah Gibson (14) Rachel McCullough (14), Anayia Fulson (10) and Tacorra Robinson (10) also scored in double figures.

Fulson had six rebounds and seven assists.

For North Davidson, Emily Hege scored 18, Ashley Davis had 15, and Courtney McMillan scored 13.

• Salisbury’s jayvee girls also won again and are still undefeated.

Salisbury boys

WELCOME — Themus Fulks scored 45 points as North Davidson beat Salisbury’s boys in a thriller on Tuesday, 81-78.

Jamarien Dalton scored 20 for the Black Knights (19-4, 16-1), who clinched the Central Carolina Conference title.

It was the first conference title for North Davidson in 26 years.

Cam Gill  led the Hornets (15-7, 13-4) with 19 points. Jacquez Smith and Cameron Stout had 12 each, and Raheim Walker  had 11.

Salisbury dropped into a tie for second place with Lexington.

The Hornets finish the regular season at home on Friday against South Rowan.

East boys

STATESVILLE —  Elton Hooper scored 25 points, but Statesville beat East Rowan on Tuesday to stay in first place in the North Piedmont Conference.

Gavin Sprinkle added 12 for East (9-14, 2-7)  in a 60-56 setback. Gabe Hinceman had eight, while Brandon Jefferson scored seven.

East went cold in the second quarter after a hot start.

It was a game of runs. Statesville had an 11-0 run to end the third quarter. The Mustangs had an 8-0 run in the fourth quarter.

“We had plenty of chances to balloon our league after our strong start, but we went flat in the second quarter,” East coach Kurt Misenheimer said. “We executed well all night and defended well. We played the game we needed to play and had a chance to win, but we shot only 58 percent from the foul line. You can’t shoot that poorly from the stripe and beat a team as talented and athletic as Statesville.”

Jeremiah Mott paced the Greyhounds (13-9, 8-1)  with 20 points.

East girls

STATESVILLE — East Rowan’s girls lost to Statesville on Tuesday, 59-45, in North Piedmont Conference action.

Mary Spry scored 19 to lead the Mustangs (13-10, 1-8), while Grace Eagle had 11 and Adalie Harrison seven.

“It was a good, competitive game — our girls played hard,” East coach Kevin Holland said. “Missed free throws hurt us. We cut it four a couple of times, but we couldn’t quite get over the hump. We’re close, but in the NPC there’s no margin for error.”

East went 13-for-31 from  the foul line.

Tyayshia Sharpe scored  19 for the Greyhounds (17-5, 6-3), and Danasia Gray had 16.

DENTON — North Rowan’s boys stayed unbeaten in the Yadkin Valley Conference with an 83-35 win at South Davidson.

North was up 50-14 at halftime.

Dayjuwon Cooke had 20 points and 10 rebounds. Zay Davis scored 14, and Kendrell Goodes had 12.

Brevin Goodlett scored 10, and Derrick Page had eight points and 11 assists.

Jacob Byerly led the Wildcats (4-17, 4-10) with 10 points.

North has won 13 in a row.

The Cavaliers (20-2, 15-0) will try to complete a perfect YVC season at home tonight against North Stanly.

DENTON — North Rowan’s girls struggled at South Davidson on Tuesday and lost 45-34 in Yadkin Valley Conference action.

Natavia Taborn led the Cavaliers (12-11, 10-5) with 14 points, and Hannah Wilkerson scored nine.

Gracie Apple scored 19 for the Wildcats (11-10, 9-5), while Mallory Gardner had 17.

North will try to bounce back tonight at home.

“Not a good night for us, but we have to put it behind us quickly,” North coach Lamar Wilkerson said. “It’s Senior Night and we want to finish (the regular season) with a win. We want our seniors to go out with a win.”

A.L. Brown boys

KANNAPOLIS — A.L. Brown’s second-place boys beat Robinson on Tuesday, 75-67, for another South Piedmont Conference victory.

The Wonders (18-5, 6-3) got 23 points from Kheni Briggs, 19 from Amare Haynie, 13 from Elijah Isom and 11 from DJ Glenn.

 

A.L. Brown girls

KANNAPOLIS — A.L. Brown’s girls rallied in the second half on Tuesday and beat Robinson, 54-46, for a South Piedmont Conference victory.

The Wonders (5-17, 4-5) started the season 0-15.

Jaliah Smoutherson  scored 13 for the Wonders. Kaylee Yow had 12 points and eight rebounds. Jala Campbell scored 10 points.

 

Davie boys

KERNERSVILLE — Davie County’s boys stayed unbeaten in the Central Piedmont Conference with a 63-58 win at East Forsyth on Tuesday.

Davie clinched an outright league title.

Davie (21-1, 9-0) played again without 6-foot-8 Owen McCormack.

Michael Walton and Troy Griggs scored 15 each for the War Eagles, while Jacob Hendrix had 14 and  Justice Redmon 10.

Walton had seven rebounds.

Khaliq McCummings scored 17 to lead East Forsyth (13-8, 4-5).

Davie made five 3-pointers in the first half to take a 38-28 lead.

East Forsyth came back to take the lead with 4:57 remaining, but Hendrix made 3-pointers on three straight Davie possessions.

Vikings clinch

CONCORD — Central Cabarrus’ girls clinched the South Piedmont Conference championship on Tuesday with a 53-46 win against second-place Cox Mill.

Jael Miller led Central with 19 points. Demi Case scored 17, and  Aniyah Tate had 13 points and 10 rebounds.

 

South Rowan

South was off on Tuesday.

The Raiders are home tonight (Senior Night) against CCC opponent Central Davidson.

 

JV girls

Makayla Johnson scored 14 points in Carson’s 31-23 win against West Rowan on Tuesday.

Iyonna Parker had eight points. Allie Burns and Riley Isley stood out on defense.

Megyn Spicer scored 11 for the Falcons.
