Salisbury players will comprise the singles and doubles finals of the CCC girls tennis tournament.
Hannah Lebowitz will face teammate Joy Loeblein in singles, while the tandems of Erika Nelson-Katelyn Storey and Anna Page-Sierra Davis will meet for the other title.
The matches are scheduled to begin today at 3:30 p.m. in Lexington. Hornets coach Chris Myers passed on the option of playing in Salisbury.
“We want to keep them in tournament mode,” he said in a telephone interview. “If we played at our school, it would seem too much like a practice.”
Each of Salisbury’s four entries had a first-round bye and went 2-0 on Tuesday.
Page-Davis and Loeblein were seeded third in their brackets.
Page-Davis won 8-0 against West Davidson’s Melinda Athey-Katie Allen in the quarterfinals and 6-4, 6-2 against Central Davidson’s Haley Hanes-Lydian Beck, the No. 2 seed, in the semifinals.
Loeblein was an 8-0 winner against Thomasville’s Natalie Bravi and a 6-3, 6-3 winner against second-seeded Olivia Myers of West Davidson. That match lasted 21/2 hours.
“Joy played great and withstood a girl who didn’t make any unforced errors,” Chris Myers said. “In the end, she became more aggressive, and that pushed her into the final.”
Lebowitz and Nelson-Storey entered the event as No. 1 seeds.
Lebowitz had an 8-0 win against Lexington’s Taryn Jenkins and a 6-0, 6-0 win against Central Davidson’s Sarah Bowers.
Nelson-Storey won 8-1 against Central Davidson’s Amber Baldwin-McKensie Wall and 6-0, 6-0 against West Davidson’s Jessica West-Taylor Phipps.
