nGame notes: South is favored, but it could be a tough game on the road. Both teams were shut out by West Rowan by similar scores and both handled North Iredell.
Coach Mark Weycker’s Warriors won a wild one last season because holder Hunter Blohm alertly picked up a blocked field goal behind the line of scrimmage on the final snap of the game and threw a TD pass.
The standout of the Warriors is returner/safety P.J. Clyburn, who has many D-I offers to pick from.
South’s romp over North Iredell prior to its open week enhanced team stats considerably. South is scoring two TDs per game more than last season while giving up 5.0 fewer points per game. Zach Howell is a key for South’s line, and Dylan Walker is a dependable receiver with eight catches for 182 yards.
South back D’Andre Harris has hammered the Warriors for 185 yards rushing the past two seasons, and Thomas Lowe had a humongous game against West Iredell when he was an East Rowan sophomore in 2007. He rushed for 248 yards, breaking runs of 55 and 73 yards, in that meeting. ó Mike London
