SALISBURY — Catawba women’s basketball honored its lone senior, Elizabeth Webb, on the final day of the 2018-19 regular season Saturday at Goodman Gym.

Webb, who starred at West Iredell High, scored six points on a couple of 3-pointers. She had four rebounds and three assists while playing 33 turnover-free minutes in a 91-71 loss to South Atlantic Conference regular-season champion Anderson.

Webb has made 92 3-pointers in her career for the majority of her 392 points. She’s also been a good defender, Her senior season has been her best one.

No. 16 Anderson (26-2, 20-0) pulled away in the second quarter and completed a perfect march through the league.

In head coach Terrence Baxter’s first season, the Indians qualified for the SAC tournament as the eighth seed, with a record of 13-14 overall and 8-12 in league.

Leading by two points after the first 10 minutes of action, the Trojans embarked on a 9-0 run to start the second quarter and went on to take a 43-31 halftime lead.

 Anderson’s last field goal came with 2:42 left when Valencia Carroll’s jumper posted the Trojans largest margin of the day at 91-63. Catawba tallied the final eight points of the contest.

Former A.L. Brown star Shemya Stanback paced the Indians with a career-high 17 points. Talia Barnes registered her fifth double-double of the season with 12 points and 10 boards. Taisha DeShazo netted 10.

Alexy Mollenhauer scored 28 points and Ace Easter had 26 for the Trojans.

Catawba will travel to play Anderson at the Abney Athletic Center at 7 p.m. Wednesday in a first-round tournament game.
