Marsabit: Kenya’s Hidden Treasure

Alberto Borges will discuss his exploration, research, and conservation of Kenya’s remote North in his presentation ntitled “Marsabit: Kenya’s Hidden Treasure.”
Borges is a National Geographic Explorer, the founder of The Explorer’s Club of Kenya, a TED speaker, and a junior at Catawba College pursuing a degree in Environment and Sustainability with a minor in Biology.

Tommy Tomlinson to speak at funbdraiser

CHARLOTTE — The Charlotte Museum of History, 3500 Shamrock Drive, announces that Tommy Tomlinson will be the host and speaker at its upcoming fundraiser, Colonial Gem, on May 9.
Tomlinson is an acclaimed author, journalist, Pulitzer prize finalist, and the host of WFAE’s podcast Southbound. An institution in Charlotte as iconic as the museum itself, Tommy has been part of the Charlotte community for more than 23 years.

2019 Cheerwine Festival seeks volunteer groups
The City of Salisbury is seeking volunteer groups to assist with the daylong festivities. Civic and service organizations are encouraged to volunteer in groups of 10 people or more on Saturday, May 18, for at least one three-hour period.
Duties will include vendor load-in assistance, managing parking lots, serving in the information booths and serving as a Cheerwine Festival street ambassador.
