A Post reader asked what happened to the Club Red building, located at 1517 South Main St., and when the Rowan County Economic Development Commission will fill it.

The building is being marketed by the EDC and the organization is aware the building is vacant, said Scott Shelton, vice president of the Rowan Economic Development Commission.

The Swicegood Groups, a real estate and auction company that is listing the property, says on its website the building was auctioned between Jan. 15 and Feb. 27. On Feb. 27, the bid closed at 2:04 p.m. The high bidder offered $422,000.

However, it remains unclear at this time if ownership of the property has transferred.

The deed and tax records are still in Club Red LLC’s name, said Rhonda Gaskey, of the Rowan County Tax Assessor’s Office.

Shelton said details on the building are “hard to come by” and the information on the vacancy “came suddenly.”

Shelton also said the vacancy might be related to a name change Club Red LLC went through. According to a letter on the company’s website, the brand now operates under Uwärē Brand apparel.
