Today is the last day of spring-like weather. A heat wave is on its way.

Code yellow air quality is predicted through the weekend, with ozone and particle pollution making breathing uncomfortable for unusually sensitive people, such as those with asthma or other respiratory diseases.

Today will be sunny and 80, with west southwest wind at 5-7 mph this afternoon. Tonight will be clear and 58, with light southwest wind.

Friday will be mostly sunny and hot, with a high of 86 and west southwest wind at 3-7 mph. The low will be 64, with mostly clear skies and calming winds.

Saturday, Cheerwine Festival day, will be another hot one, with a high of 88. Wear sunscreen and a hat if you’ll be outside. Winds will be south southwest around 5 mph in the afternoon.

Saturday night will be mostly clear and 66.

Sunday will be sunny and 87. The low will be 65, with partly cloudy skies.

Monday brings a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms between 2 and 3 p.m. It will be mostly sunny and 86. Monday night will be partly cloudy and 64.

Tuesday will be mostly sunny and 88, with a low of 64 and partly cloudy skies.
