A Post reader asked about plans for renovation of the empty gas station at West Innes Street and Statesville Boulevard near Catawba College.

Pit Road Properties, which is registered as an limited liability company in Salisbury, is seeking a permit to renovate the building, located at 1820 W Innes St., said city Zoning Administrator Teresa Barringer. The goal is to open a vehicle service shop for minor repairs, Barringer said.

“This area has been vacant for years,” Barringer said.

Previously, the lot was the site of a gas station owned by Pit Road Properties.

Barringer said Pit Road Properties is in the early stages of planning the renovation. Barringer said the company has experience in the field, as it owns Grease Monkey on West Innes Street.

Records at the N.C. Secretary of State’s Office list the company’s registered agents as Michael Ivester Jr. of Denver, North Carolina; Denial A Newell, of Mooresville; and Sheila Kay Newell, of Mooresville.

The Grease Monkey on West Innes Street will stay in its current spot and not move down the street.

The company plans to do an interior renovation of the empty gas station.
