SALISBURY — Rowan-Cabarrus Community College will offer summer camps on a variety of topics ranging from baby-sitter certification, agriculture and graphic design to welding, mechatronics and video game design.

The camps are for students ages 8 to 18.

The program began as an introduction to the world of technology. Course offerings have grown each year based on feedback, as well as popular careers, hobbies and topics of interest. Among several new offerings this year is the TALK program for high school students, which helps them prepare for senior project presentations and their careers.

“These summer enrichment camps deliver fun and enlightening growth experiences. Students gain exposure to new ideas, make new friends, and possibly even identify career options for the future,” said college President Carol S. Spalding. “They have so much fun that they don’t even realize they are learning important transferable skills and concepts they will use to succeed in the workforce later.”

The 2019 camps include:

  • Ages 8-11: Drone Adventures; Battle Royale: Make Your First “Fortnite”-Style Video Game; “Minecraft” Modders: Virtual Reality: The Future is Now; Make Your First 3D Video Game; and “Roblox” Makers
  • Ages 11-14: “Minecraft” Modders; Coding with Robotics; Battle Royale: Make Your First “Fortnite”-Style Video Game; Drone Adventures; Build-A-Bot Engineering & Design; 3D Game Labs with Unity
  • Ages 11-16: Agripreneur Academy Kids; The Drones & the Bees
  • Ages 11-18: Introduction to Digital Photography; Baby-sitter Certification; Improv on the Go; Introduction to UX Design & Web Development
