Letter: We cannot go back, change history

I say “amen” to Lora Owen’s letter to the editor published Tuesday (“Leave ‘Fame’ where it is, work on real problems”). That was one of the best worded letters I have ever read, and it is so true.
I am not originally from Rowan County, but have been here more than 40 years. So I do consider it my home.
I agree with her — whenever I see the statue “Fame”(for a long time I did not even realize it had a name) it always makes me feel peaceful to see an angel carrying a wounded soldier. I never saw “color” or thought that it could mean something so negative to some people.
Unfortunately, we cannot go back and change history. It is what it is. All we can do is to keep moving forward. We all are created equal.
